Massachusetts Cannabis Social Equity Trust Fund

The Cannabis Social Equity Trust Fund is a Massachusetts initiative created to support individuals and communities disproportionately harmed by past cannabis laws. The Fund provides financial assistance, such as grants and loans, to help eligible cannabis entrepreneurs start, sustain, or grow their businesses. This support can be used for licensing fees, facility costs, equipment, payroll, compliance, technical assistance, and other expenses that often make entering the cannabis industry difficult without significant capital.

By offering access to funding, the Trust Fund works to level the playing field in an industry where many people have historically lacked opportunity due to incarceration, discrimination, and economic barriers. For individuals who have been impacted by the War on Drugs, this resource can open doors to business ownership, stability, and long-term economic mobility. It also strengthens Massachusetts’s commitment to building a more fair and equitable cannabis market, one where success isn’t determined by wealth, privilege, or past system involvement.
