CNB 101: Intro to Cannabis

Course Description:

Course will discuss the basic life cycle of the plant/plant properties, and the natural origins and evolution of cannabis.

Learn what types of cannabinoids are in a cannabis plant and the therapeutic effects of terpenes.

Have an understanding of the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) and how it naturally reacts to your body’s receptors.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe the basic growth cycle of cannabis.

  • Discuss the history of cannabis used as medicine, food, oil, and for hemp fiber.

  • Match appropriate medical cannabis varieties to medical conditions.

  • Fluency in cannabis vocabulary.

  • Ability to identify the properties and uses of cannabis flower, SAP, vape products, rosin, kief, oils, tinctures, edibles, and topicals.

CNB 102: Cannabis and the Law

Course Description:

The course will explore a brief history of the War on Drugs and discuss current policy parameters, legal responsibilities and ethical issues of the medical cannabis industry.

The course will end by connecting laws to socially responsible vending.

Learning Objectives:

  • Compare the public perception of the criminal justice system (including common misperceptions) with the reality of law enforcement practices in the War on Drugs.

  • Evaluate the degree of justice and fairness delivered by our current criminal justice system as it pertains to drug-related offenses.

  • Explain local, state, and federal laws regulating cannabis cultivation, transportation, distribution, and sales.

  • Examine the legal and ethical issues that inform the past, present, and future of cannabis prohibition and legalization.

  • Understand how laws relate to standard operating procedure during employment.
