Mass CultivatED Expungement Clinic July 2025
On July 9, 2025, Mass CultivatED hosted a community Expungement Clinic at Roxbury Community College, dedicated to helping individuals take real steps toward sealing or clearing their criminal records. The event brought together organizations committed to justice, housing access, and legal support, creating a space where people could ask questions, receive services, and leave with real guidance and a clear plan for the future.
Several impactful groups joined us, including Justice For Housing, Clean Slate Massachusetts, We Are Better Together Project, and Greater Boston Legal Services, to provide direct legal help, CORI reviews, sealing and expungement assistance, and resource guidance. Many attendees were able to begin the record-clearing process, and get the information they needed.
Representatives from these organizations also shared important insights about the power of record clearing, how it reduces barriers to employment, expands housing opportunities, and restores dignity to individuals who deserve a fresh start. These conversations highlighted the critical role that accessible legal support plays in building equity across communities, including access to opportunities in the legal cannabis industry.
This clinic was a meaningful reminder of why we do this work, creating pathways to opportunity and helping people reclaim their future. Mass CultivatED looks forward to continuing to host events that support justice-involved individuals and families across Massachusetts.
